Campus journalists of Nova Schola Tanauan (NST) represented the Schools Division of Tanauan in the recently concluded 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held at Cabuyao Integrated National High School last February 27-28.

Six qualifiers for different individual categories joined other campus journalists across various schools in Region IV A – CALABARZON for the said writing of journalism expertise.

The campus press from NST include Jayvee Banta for News Writing English, Kyle Nico Miel Generoso for Editorial Writing English, Princess Angeline Platero for Sports Writing English, and Lynden Shane Canovas for Copyreading and Headline Writing Filipino, as well as Jimlex Segui and Rheann Shane Barrion for Photojournalism Filipino and English, respectively.

According to Canovas, the experience was memorable as a first-time RSPC qualifier, despite the pressure and challenges she faced for the preparation, adding that  representing NST and Tanauan is already worth celebrating as the competition for campus journalism is tight in the region.

Relatively, Platero emphasized that her purpose of bringing fairness in journalistic writing motivated her amid the demands of her other responsibilities.

Despite their press conference journey ending in the regionals, these journalists remain hopeful that this will inspire other students to continue serving unbiased and fearless broadcasts of issues in the community.

Labor Day for Every Juan https://blog.nst.edu.ph/2023/05/01/labor-day-for-every-juan/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=labor-day-for-every-juan Mon, 01 May 2023 00:42:56 +0000 https://blog.nst.edu.ph/?p=738

Labor Day is a significant holiday in the Philippines that is celebrated every May 1st. It is a day that honors the hard work and sacrifices of the country’s workforce, and it is a time for reflection on the importance of labor rights, fair wages, and safe working conditions. However, there is a part of the workforce that is sometimes underrepresented and unseen due to the nature of their work- security guards, stewards, cleaners, etc.

In the Philippines, labor has always been an integral part of the nation’s history. The country has a long tradition of fighting for labor rights and fair treatment in the workplace. From the formation of the first labor unions in the early 1900s to the establishment of labor laws and regulations in the present day, the Philippines has been a pioneer in championing the rights of workers. Hence, Filipinos forget that the workforce does not always revolve around those who are in white collar jobs, rather it’s for everybody who tirelessly works for their family and for the country.

This Labor Day, we are reminded of the struggles that the Filipino workforce, whether they belong in the white collar jobs or not,  has endured in the past and the challenges that still lie ahead. We are reminded of the countless workers who have fought and continue to fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and better lives for themselves, their families, and the country.

Despite the progress that has been made, there is still much work to be done. As we celebrate Labor Day this year, let us honor the hard work and sacrifices of our fellow Filipinos in the workforce. Let us remember the importance of labor rights and fair treatment in the workplace. Additionally, let us commit ourselves to the ongoing struggle for a better, more just society for all of our workers in different sectors.

This is the day to celebrate the dignity of work and the contributions of the working class. Likewise, a day to recognize the value of labor and the power of collective action to stand in solidarity with workers everywhere and to renew our commitment to creating a more equitable and just world for them.

In conclusion, let us take this Labor Day as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of labor rights and the ongoing struggle for justice in the workplace. Let us celebrate the contributions of the Filipino workforce, and let us continue to work towards a better future for all workers. Remember, they have been the longtime backbone of our country. Together, we can create a society where every worker is valued, respected, and protected.

In a dark and cruel world of reality, she found a website that contained books that became her light and bridge to fantasy. a book that made her realize what love truly is. That became her hope that one day she could experience a love that is written in a book—a love that is full of magic. And that’s where the beginning starts—the beginning of loving herself so that when the time is right, she will be loved just like what’s written in a book.
