Campus journalists of Nova Schola Tanauan (NST) represented the Schools Division of Tanauan in the recently concluded 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held at Cabuyao Integrated National High School last February 27-28.

Six qualifiers for different individual categories joined other campus journalists across various schools in Region IV A – CALABARZON for the said writing of journalism expertise.

The campus press from NST include Jayvee Banta for News Writing English, Kyle Nico Miel Generoso for Editorial Writing English, Princess Angeline Platero for Sports Writing English, and Lynden Shane Canovas for Copyreading and Headline Writing Filipino, as well as Jimlex Segui and Rheann Shane Barrion for Photojournalism Filipino and English, respectively.

According to Canovas, the experience was memorable as a first-time RSPC qualifier, despite the pressure and challenges she faced for the preparation, adding that  representing NST and Tanauan is already worth celebrating as the competition for campus journalism is tight in the region.

Relatively, Platero emphasized that her purpose of bringing fairness in journalistic writing motivated her amid the demands of her other responsibilities.

Despite their press conference journey ending in the regionals, these journalists remain hopeful that this will inspire other students to continue serving unbiased and fearless broadcasts of issues in the community.

As Mother’s Day approaches, Nova Schola Tanauan takes a moment to honor the remarkable women who play the role of superheroes in our lives – our mothers. From guiding us through life’s challenges to showering us with unconditional love, mothers hold a special place in our hearts. In this article, we pay tribute to the supermoms within our Nova Schola Tanauan community and celebrate their invaluable contributions.

Meet Our Supermoms:

Behind every student, teacher, and staff member at Nova Schola Tanauan, there is a dedicated and loving mother. From waking up early to prepare breakfast to staying up late to offer words of encouragement, these mothers go above and beyond to support their children’s dreams and aspirations. Whether it’s attending school events, helping with homework, or simply being a shoulder to lean on, our supermoms epitomize strength, resilience, and unwavering love.

Stories of Sacrifice and Love:

The stories of our supermoms are as diverse as they are inspiring. Some have overcome tremendous obstacles to provide their children with the best possible opportunities, while others have juggled multiple roles with grace and determination. Despite the challenges they face, these mothers always put their children’s needs above their own, demonstrating selflessness and compassion in every action.

From the early years of nurturing and caregiving to the teenage trials and triumphs, our supermoms have been there every step of the way, offering guidance, support, and unconditional love. Their influence extends far beyond the walls of our school, shaping the character and values of future generations.

Expressing Gratitude:

On this special occasion, we invite students, faculty, and staff members to express their gratitude to the supermoms in their lives. Whether through heartfelt messages, poems, or artwork, let us take a moment to thank these incredible women for everything they do. Your words of appreciation will serve as a testament to the immeasurable impact of maternal love and support.

As we celebrate Mother’s Day, let us not forget to honor the superheroes in our lives – our mothers. Their love knows no bounds, and their sacrifices often go unnoticed. From all of us at Nova Schola Tanauan, we extend our deepest gratitude to the supermoms who inspire us, support us, and love us unconditionally. Happy Mother’s Day!

Don’t follow the crowd; let the crowd follow you.” —Margaret Thatcher.

“Wear this and that, not this and those.” This common phrase, often heard in movies when a woman embarks on a journey beyond her home, reflects the societal expectations placed on women. However, beyond these scripted lines, women possess voices that resonate far beyond the constraints imposed by a loud, dismissive society.

As March unfolds, the global spotlight turns towards the celebration of Women’s Month—an occasion to reflect on achievements, challenges, and the ongoing pursuit of gender equality. Amidst the festivities, the vibrant diversity of women, spanning shades, sizes, races, and colors, continues to thrive. This celebration is not just a moment of festivity; it’s a clarion call to action.

In this year’s Women’s Month celebration, the spotlight is on the powerful essence of women. It’s a collective call for individuals, communities, governments, and organizations to recommit to the fight for gender equality and women’s rights. Let us discard outdated language like “manpower” and recognize that abilities are equal but diverse. Women often bring high levels of empathy, emotional intelligence, a strong sense of vision, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. They create opportunities for others to succeed, drive meaningful change, foster innovation, and contribute to more inclusive and equitable societies.

Unwavering determination defines women across decades and generations. With strength, resilience, determination, and courage, women showcase that anything is possible. Despite obstacles, they persevere, navigating changing circumstances with grace. Women stand united, fighting, inspiring, and supporting one another. Today, you cannot defeat a woman.

An Endearing Tribute: Poetic Homage to Mothers https://blog.nst.edu.ph/2023/05/18/an-endearing-tribute-poetic-homage-to-mothers/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=an-endearing-tribute-poetic-homage-to-mothers Thu, 18 May 2023 04:37:19 +0000 https://blog.nst.edu.ph/?p=761

To My Beloved Mother

Trisha Nazareno – 11 STEM D

A mother’s love shines bright and true,

A beacon that will guide us through,

A love that’s patient, kind, and strong,

A bond that lasts our whole life long.

She shows us how to love and care,

And teaches us to always share,

She’s there to help us find our way,

And to lift us up when we stray.

From childhood’s days to years gone by,

She’s been our rock, our constant guide,

Her love has helped us to become,

The people we are, one by one.

So on this day, we honor you,

Our mother, our friend, our guide so true,

We thank you for your love and care,

And for the memories we all share.

A Candle Flame of Maternal Grace

Jimlex P. Sagui – 11 STEM D

In the depths of night, a flickering flame,

A candle’s glow, a guiding frame.

Its gentle light, in darkness, glows,

A beam of hope, a love that shows.

With tender warmth, it casts its rays,

Illuminating paths through life’s maze.

Just like a mother’s unwavering light,

Guiding us through both day and night.

Through stormy seas or shadows deep,

Her love’s embrace, a treasure to keep.

She kindles courage, ignites our dreams,

In her presence, solace redeems.

In darkest hours, her flame burns bright,

Her nurturing touch, a guiding light.

A candle’s dance, her spirit untamed,

A mother’s love, forever acclaimed.

Isang Huwaran

Jeane Kyla Cabrera – 11 ABM

Sa madilim kong mundo,

Siya ang nagbigay liwanag dito.

Laging naka suporta sa tabi ko,

Laging naniniwala na kaya ko.

Ilaw ng tahanan,

Sinusubok man ng kapalaran,

Hindi nagpapatinag sa pait ng nararanasan

Patuloy pa rin na lumalaban.

Laging kaagapay,

Sa mga pagsubok na kinakaharap sa buhay.

Sakripisyo ang inaalay,

Magkaroon lamang kami ng magandang buhay.

Husgahan ka man ng iba,

Talikuran ka man nila,

Ngunit mananatili pa rin ang isang ina,

Ina na huwaran at dakila.

Love until the end of time

Margareth Rizaldo – 11 STEM D

The moment I opened my eyes,

You gave me the sweetest smile.

From your vision, I see how it shines,

Your love will surpass ’till the end of time.

When the beasts holds me,

And my mind kills the depths of me,

You stand beside me until it flee,

Calming the storms inside this uncertainty.

Mother, forgive me

If sometimes I hurt you truly.

In times that I get so meanie,

You’re the light that still handles me softly.

You’re my home, my lamp and my comfort zone.

My angel, you deserve the whole throne.

In another life, I wish you to be by my side.

My mother, I love you ’till the end of time.

Ang Bahagharing Liwanag

Rizelle Balanga – 11 STEM B

Ating ina na sadyang katangi-tangi

Kanyang liwanag ay tila bahaghari

Taong nagsisilbing ilaw ng tahanan

Umaantabay sa ating kamusmusan

Bawat pagsubok sa ating mga buhay

Kanilang ilaw ang ating naging tulay

Ang ilaw na sa ati’y umaalalay

Laging bukas-palad kung umagapay

Ang isang taong ating laging kakampi

Sa tuwing tayo’y malapit ng magapi

Liwanag na kanilang itinatanghal

Ang simbolo ng kanilang pagmamahal

Isang ina na laging nagliliwanag

Ating nagsisilbing bahagharing liwanag

Simbolo na tayo’y hindi nag-iisa

Salamat sa liwanag ng ating ina

Ina Ko

Sophia Canlubo – 11 HUMSS B

Aking ina ikaw ay naiiba

hindi maipagkakaila

na ikaw sa aking puso ay nag-iisa

kahit sa iyong paningin

ika’y hindi naging perpektong ina

Ang iyong ilaw ang naging gabay

at nagbigay ng kakaibang kulay

sa ibinigay mo sa aking buhay

sa panahon na ako’y matamlay

ikaw ay laging umaalalay

Ang iyong mga sakripisyo

sa amin ay laging nakarehistro

magbago man ang lahat ng ‘to

nakatatak na sa puso ko

na ikaw ang kakampi ko sa lahat ng aspeto

Magunaw man itong mundo

ikaw parin ang pipiliin ko

pumuti man ang buhok ko

pag-ibig ko sayo’y di mababago

mahal kita mama ko

My Sirious

Sophia Beatrice Panganiban – 11 STEM D

Your love is like the rays of the sun,

That gives me warmth, and lights up every corner of my heart.

You never fail to make me glow,

And never get tired of wiping away the tears that the world makes me

whimper.

You are my superhero

A woman that is all around and flexible

You are my teacher, my nurse, and my best friend

That always keeps me in company, and turns a coarse situation into beauty.

I am thankful to God

He made a wonderful mother, and gave her to me

A mother that has a sweetest smile,

Shining like Sirius, the brightest star in the sky.

I love you more than words I can say

For all the times that I forgot to thank you,

For all the unspoken I love yous,

I want you to know that I appreciate the whole you.

Mother's Love

Margareth Rizaldo – 11 STEM D

Sun so bright,

Mother you’re my light,

You directed me out of the eerie night,

Lifted me up to the starlight.

Your loving care,

That flutters the air,

It cannot be compare,

Because your solicitude was rare.

You said I’m a miracle when I came,

But you’re the miracle the skies gave.

Amazing how your love remains the same,

It is a never ending burning flame.

Despite the storm of thorns,

And the heavy dark horns,

You stand strong and never get blown,

You’re the bravest hero I’ve ever known.

Reel Flicks: A Showcase of Short Films https://blog.nst.edu.ph/2023/04/05/reel-flicks-a-showcase-of-short-films/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=reel-flicks-a-showcase-of-short-films Wed, 05 Apr 2023 06:25:28 +0000 https://blog.nst.edu.ph/?p=611

Holy Week is a time of the year that provides us with an opportunity to reflect and contemplate on our actions in light of the sacrifices and love of Jesus Christ for humanity. Moreover, it allows us to spend quality time with our families. To make this time even more worthwhile, we present to you four recommended short films originally created by Grade 12 students of Nova Schola Tanauan.

Each film imparts an ingrained life lesson that is worth contemplating and reflecting upon. The films adhere to the theme of “Forging Ahead: Portraying the Stories of the Pandemic,” which showcases stories of hope, triumph, perseverance, and more during the pandemic. So, sit back and enjoy the rest of the films

EL AVISO

Produced by: Grade 12 - ABM B (Batch 2022)

Jenel Allison, a troubled lone scientist, finds herself stuck in the past, in the year 2019, as she races to warn humanity about the shocking discovery of a fatal disease. The vaccine, invented by a friend, is the only means for her to stay alive and return to the present.

CHASING THE WORLD

Produced by: Grade 12 - HUMSS B (Batch 2022)

March 2020, 4 teenagers of the same age—Ken, Arnold, Rhaye, and Jericho—navigating between their overbearing and dysfunctional home lives and the sudden news of a temporary 2 week class suspension because of the coronavirus, carried out a plan to spend the next 2 weeks of their lives off the land. Their adventure quickly became a defining event in their lives before they completely part ways for the total lockdown and take control of their own destiny. The story shifts back and forth between the struggling families left outside, juggling the difficulties of trying to find the four children while also dealing with COVID-19 and its consequences. (Job loss, depression, counseling, making money, finding the four kids). In these kinds of excruciatingly trying times, will you still care for your friends and family when, in fact, you already have the chance to choose yourself for the first time?

MEMORYA

Produced by: Grade 12 - STEM B (Batch 2022)

A granddaughter of Lolo Enchong, an elderly man, is interested in finding out about his experiences. He began to read his journal about the challenges he faced during the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020.

HER WRITTEN VOICE

Produced by: Grade 12 -STEM C (Batch 2022)

There were different stories of every individual when the pandemic hit. Some were fortunate enough to not experience major struggles, some were unfortunate to experience dramatic events. For a deaf girl named Ligaya, it was the latter. For her, shouting isn’t a choice so she wrote using her voice.

You can watch all these feature short films at Nova Schola’s official YouTube channel

Hoping that the love in fantasy can also happen in reality

First Place – 8 Words. 8 Letters. Photo Essay

By: Patricia Mae C. Bay

In a dark and cruel world of reality, she found a website that contained books that became her light and bridge to fantasy. a book that made her realize what love truly is. That became her hope that one day she could experience a love that is written in a book—a love that is full of magic. And that’s where the beginning starts—the beginning of loving herself so that when the time is right, she will be loved just like what’s written in a book.

A mother’s love is the ultimate embodiment of unconditional love and sacrifice. Making Mental Health and Well Being for All a Global Priority https://blog.nst.edu.ph/2022/10/10/making-mental-health-and-well-being-for-all-a-global-priority/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=making-mental-health-and-well-being-for-all-a-global-priority Mon, 10 Oct 2022 05:51:59 +0000 https://blog.nst.edu.ph/?p=476

Every year since 2013, the World Health Organization (WHO) has organized a global campaign for World Mental Health Day and is observed on every 10th day of October. The overall objective is to raise awareness of the various mental health issues around the world and to encourage collaborative efforts in support of promoting mental health. It also aims to eliminate the surrounding misconceptions and stigma about it to be able to help more people especially those who are still suffering in silence and to assist those who are afraid to seek necessary treatment for their mental health conditions.

The theme of World Health Day this year is Making Mental Health and Well Being for All a Global Priority, and it starts with focusing on and prioritizing your own mental health. It is very important to remember that our mental health is just as essential as our physical health. Good mental health is not just the absence of mental illness and includes our emotional, psychological, and social well- being. Thus, it is very important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. The short video made by the Peer members of Project Peace of Mind gives everyone a simple reminder that mental health is crucial especially nowadays and that no one is exempted from experiencing mental health issues. It can happen in the corners of our homes or even in schools. So don’t be afraid to reach out if you are struggling with your mental health.

To those who are experiencing social isolation/ loneliness and discrimination, always remember that you can find somebody trustworthy to listen and communicate with to overcome emotional challenges and make positive changes in your life.

Tribute to The Pillars of Our Family https://blog.nst.edu.ph/2022/06/18/tribute-to-the-pillars-of-our-home/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=tribute-to-the-pillars-of-our-home Sat, 18 Jun 2022 03:02:47 +0000 https://blog.nst.edu.ph/?p=414

Mothers are known as the light of the family, or in Tagalog “ang ilaw ng tahanan”. Meanwhile, every Filipino knows that a father is known as the “ang haligi ng tahanan” in Tagalog, but are you aware what does that translate to into English?

The answer is in the title of this blog article. “Haligi” in English means column, it is an upright pillar, typically cylindrical and made of stone or concrete. By that definition, we can  see why our fathers were described as the pillars of our family. Fathers are seen as the head of the house and the provider for his family. This may be true two or three decades ago because as of now, almost all parents share the same responsibilities in a household. Yet, there are still responsibilities in a family only a father can do better than a mother and vice versa.

So cheers to all fathers out there, Happy Fathers’ Day!

Several of our students sent a warm Father's day greetings. Watch them all and see how fond and loving our students are towards their father
